Learning Race is a game that I made for a school assignment. We had to make an educational game for a grade 1 and 2 class. We were learning game maker but I programmed my game instead, because I thought that game maker was too limited for this type of game.

In Learning Race, you race a blue car against a red car. You can only win if you collect fuel and speed boost items on the road. When you collect them, you have to answer some questions, and you only get the fuel or speed boost if you get them right.
This is a screenshot of the game after the player picks up some fuel and has to answer a question.

If you download this game and try to play it, you will find that there are three different types of games you can play. There are 'Dolphin Spelling List', 'Whales Spelling List' and 'Maths'. My class was making these educational games for a particular class and the class of grade 1s and 2s had two different spelling lists, called dolphins and whales. The type of game you choose to play in Learning Race will determine what questions you answer. For example, the dolphin game will include questions about spelling words from the dolphin spelling list.

The game was made to get the questions out of text files so that the questions could be edited, so that teachers could update the spelling lists for when they teach the students different words. When my class went to the school to give our games to that grade 1 and 2 class and show them how to play the games, my game wasn't copied over to the school computers, so the school doesn't have the game. That means that there was no advantage of making the questions editable.
